If not, I suggest the following:
- Robo en la noche
- Esperanza
- Frida Kahlo
- El duende de Salento
There are others, but these are some of my favorites.

If your students have read novels in the previous levels of Spanish, then I recommend:
- Bananas by Carrie Toth - takes place in Costa Rica and is about a family that works for a company that owns the banana plantations
- Minerva by Nellie Hughes - about Las Mariposas, the Mirabal sisters story from the Dominican Republic
- Selena by Nellie Hughes - about the life of Selena
- Vida y muerte en la Mara Salvatrucha - about gangs in the US
- La guerra sucia - about the Dirty War in Argentina, I read this with my Spanish 5s (students that have had 400 hrs of language classes before coming to my Sp5 class)

Those are a few. You can also check out Fluency Matters website for more books, or search for Adriana Ramirez (she has written many books and you can find them on Amazon), Mira Canion's website, and there is another website of independent authors but I can't recall the name of it at this moment. Hope that helps. If you have additional questions, feel free to reach out and ask me. :)
Señora Hitzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07909827381087226676noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5898729898073581154.post-75188435808747056782022-01-14T22:46:31.586-05:002022-01-14T22:46:31.586-05:00Hola,

I am especially excited to use the collaboration and discussion sentences to keep my students talking in the target language during pair and group work. I was surprised by the fact that there can be games on Jamboard! I think keeping the Spanish classroom fun by using games is so important. Obviously students need their own devices to partake in these jamboard activities, but that's one thing that Covid has made a lot easier. Thank you so much for sharing these resources, I'm so excited to try them out in my classroom! I give students baggies with matchsticks, shell macaroni, and unpopped popcorn kernels as manipulatives to form the numbers. I have a handout from many years ago that we use and I also have them physically draw boxes on a blank sheet of paper to represent the different steps and then they form the numbers by placing the items in the boxes, AKA "steps". I have not seen the video so will need to check it out. There is an order of which cards they have to turn over, because obviously they all would want to hand over the REGALEN LOS PUNTOS cards because they don't want to give away points. For that reason, the order is:
-first have to hand over QUÉDENSE los puntos cards
-if they don't have any of those DECISIONES cards remaining, then they have to hand over the REGALEN los puntos negativos
- if they don't have any QUÉDENSE nor REGALEN los puntos negativos remaining, they have to hand over their DUPLIQUEN los puntos cardsSeñora Hitzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07909827381087226676noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5898729898073581154.post-10846839206868344492021-05-18T19:39:38.815-04:002021-05-18T19:39:38.815-04:00:) DE NADA :) DE NADA Señora Hitzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07909827381087226676noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5898729898073581154.post-81992805629787182962021-05-18T19:39:13.010-04:002021-05-18T19:39:13.010-04:00Right, all teams answer. Then, if team A answered ...Right, all teams answer. Then, if team A answered correctly, I said to them, the card I'm going to turn over is for you team. I then turned over the top card of the deck for team A and, they discussed, which DECISIONES card they wanted to play (which determines how their points are calculated).
Then I turned to team B, and IF they had answered correctly, I tell them the next card I turn over is for their team, and they see the point value and determine which DECISIONES card they want to play.

If team C answered incorrectly, I would tell one of the team C members to bring me one of the QUÉDENSE cards. They have to surrender it/hand it over to me, but do not receive any points. If they had already used/played all of their QUÉDENSE cards, then they have to surrender/hand over the REGALEN LOS PUNTOS NEGATIVOS card, and if they had already used that card they have to hand over the DUPLIQUEN los puntos.

In every round, the teams will play/lose a card so at the beginning of each round, all teams have the same number of DECISIONES cards remaining to play.
Obviously, they don't want to play the REGALEN LOS PUNTOS because they don't want to give other teams points. So if a card I turn over for them is low (1, 2, 3, etc), then those types of cards are the ones that they decide to give to another team.Señora Hitzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07909827381087226676noreply@blogger.com
